The Whole Story Reading Plan takes us to 1 Chronicles this week. The Chronicles are a recapitulation of Israel’s history, from Adam to David to the Exile, that highlights certain theological principles. It was written for the Exiles, so that they would understand where they come from, why they are in the situation they are in now, and why they can have hope for the future. Trace through how this book talks about the “anointed one” (messiah) from David’s line, and the “anointed ones” (plural) in Israel. God will protect his people and make them into an everlasting kingdom.
