Difficult Sayings of Jesus: Small Group Guide (Part 2)

April 25, 2014 // Guides

The study guide linked below is designed to correspond to a sermon preached by Pastor J.D. Greear on the weekend of  April 26/27 2014.  The sermon is from Luke 12:49-53 where Jesus says that he did not come to bring peace, but division.  The study guide is from Luke 19:28-44, including the triumphal entry, which shows the polarizing effect that Jesus had during his ministry.  Interestingly, Jesus talks about peace in Luke 19, but acknowledges that not everyone will choose the way towards it.

Luke chapters 19, 20, and 21 contains several stories pertinent to this lesson and I highly recommend leaders read all three chapters before your group’s discussion.  The study touches on:  the polarizing effect of Jesus, the divinity of Jesus (as revealed in the synoptic gospels), Jesus’ 2nd coming, and the peace that Jesus offers.

Here is the guide:  Difficult Sayings of Jesus part 2- SG

Note:  Part 1 of the sermon series was from the Resurrection service on Easter weekend.  There is no guide for that week.
